Our boys’ water polo team concluded its season with a 5-15 loss to Miramonte High School in the second round of the North Coastal Section on Tuesday night.  Senior Parker Knight said “The loss was very disappointing. We felt that we were able to stay with them until the second half, but then we just gave up too many points.” He continued to say that you can’t dwell on the loss and have to look forward. The boys’ team this year was very successful this year and finished with a 21-4 regular season record. Their playoff push was promising when they beat Foothill High School 15-10 in the first round of NCS last Saturday. Yet their disappointing loss to Miramonte High marked an end to an outstanding season.

Conditioning began in the summer time and it proved to have paid off during the season. Senior Noah McFerran said “A main part of the success we had this season was due to the strong and dedicated start that we had.” Towards the end of the season, this was pivotal as the Huskies did not tire out. Senior Daniel Tsay also attributed the team’s success to the coaching staff, which includes Gene Kendall, Mark D Lawrence, Matt Van Derwerken, and Jim Lovlien. “Without them, we couldn’t have been in the position we were in.”  The seniors on the team also reminisced about the many fun and challenging times they had playing water polo. Senior Noah McFerran stated “I played with no regrets.” The team next year looks to rebuild with the departure of twelve seniors.
