Girls Tennis MVP: Miu

The girls tennis team had several stars this season, most notably MVP senior Kaylee Miu, who started playing tennis during the spring of her junior year. Miu, with her doubles partner freshman Alice Pham, got to the MVAL quarterfinals and only narrowly lost to James Logan.
“I think the secret to my success was from playing with guys on the boys’ tennis team over the summer,” Miu said. “When you play against boys, after first getting killed, you eventually learn to level up with them and it forces you to hit stronger shots and be more aggressive on the court.”
Miu’s summer training paid off at MVALs, when her 8-4 record seeded her fourth in league and second team all-league. Miu’s season highlight was her two games against James Logan, when Miu and Pham defeated the Colts varsity one team twice in three sets.
“Skill-wise, we were both equally matched. We had really good rallies, and points would basically come down to who wanted it more,” Miu said.
Although Miu found success in tennis, she does not intend to play for a college team but will “definitely bring [her] racket with [her] to college and find some friendly competition for fun.”
