Strong Start for Girls Waterpolo
.
Friday, September 11, 2009, the Washington Girls Waterpolo team travelled to Reno, Nevada for a weekend where they competed with schools as far as Utah for the Silver State Cup. The Husky girls started the tournament off strong, defeating a team from Rodriguez 14-1, however in game 2 against Rocklin, the girls faced some obstacles and lost the game 4-8. Co-Captain, Senior, Kaley Marden led the team and scored all four shots. On day two of the Silver State Tournament, the girls came out stronger than ever, with an impressive 8-1 win against Oakmont. With one loss to Rocklin, the Husky girls were now playing for fifth place, in their final game against McClatchy. Senior, Jocelyne Yamaguchi scored 2 goals of the 5-1 win, and believed that looking back on the weekend, “we weren’t expecting much. We were all exhausted from practices and was just ready to play, which we did and we surprised ourselves and our coaches because of it!”
