eft in the quarter, but turned the ball over by throwing an interception. The second half continued with another interception and the juniors scoring for the win. The seniors were set back with injuries.
“We were good on defense; we just couldn’t score,” coach and senior Josh Aubry said.
There was a lot of rough play throughout the game, resulting in many injuries to the players. Junior quarterback Kaley Marden tackled senior Ariel Brown, which resulted in an unnecessary roughness penalty. The rough tackle was not enough to take Brown out of the game.
However, juniors Danielle Dictor, Heather Lardie, Cody Bates, and seniors Lily Maric and Sadie Bachelder were several of the girls among those who were injured. Injuries consisted mostly of scratches and bruises.
The most seriously injured player was senior Jenna Thomas, who needed to be carried off the field after spraining her knee in the fourth quarter.
The class of 2009 was led by a coaching staff consisting of seniors Josh Aubry, Zach Aubry, Anthony King, and Jeremy Richard.
“The coaching is better. They all work together and don’t argue as much,” senior Danielle Rice said.
The junior class had a larger coaching staff consisting of juniors Connor Butcher, Khaled Hassan, Tanner King, Cedric Lousi, Kevin Nguyen, Dominic Perucca, and David Ross.
“It was a really good game, and it was close too. The juniors played very well, especially Sabrina and Kaley,” senior Alisa Burchfield said.
The juniors were proud of their win over the seniors, but they also believed the win could have gone to either team up until the fourth quarter.
“It was really fun and we both played a really good game. The win was important to us, so I’m glad we won,” Dictor said.
