Environmental Club president Lisa Ramie plans to make wallets out of juice cartons to raise club funds. With restrictive laws on food items that can be sold for fundraisers, clubs must be creative about how to raise money.
“I’ve made all of the wallets so far, but I want to teach the other members how to make them at a meeting in the future,” Ramie said.
Each wallet takes 15 to 30 minutes to make, and the members will sell them for five dollars each.
This recent undertaking will be their second fundraiser thus far, and profits will be directed toward different projects. The club plans to purchase post-consumer recycled paper with which teachers can print or make copies of school-related paper documents. The club is also installing recycling bins at the Fremont Hub.
