Pranks leave lasting effects
.
Written by Martha Perez
April Fool’s Day is the only American holiday in which people can openly prank each other, but the jokes may leave lasting effects on the pranksters or victims.
Depending on the credibility of the prank, practical jokes can even damage a friendship.
“I recorded my friend saying that he liked this one girl, and on April Fool’s Day, I showed the video to our friends,” freshman Bryan Hernandez said. “Everyone believed the video, and since then, my friend has been mad at me.”
Other times, people can surprise others to the point of worrying them.
“On April Fool’s Day, my friend sent me a text saying she was pregnant,” junior Kim Chatterjee said. “I got really worried, so I asked her if she needed help with anything and if she was okay. After fifteen minutes, she told me it was all a lie.”
People can always enjoy pranking others, but the lasting effects of trickery can vary from having fun with the practical joke to regretting it.
