Chutney spices it up

Chutney, a delicious new Pakistani and Indian restaurant, presents a cultural experience.

It has a sleek atmosphere with Indian artwork around the restaurant. After ordering, I was able to freely choose my own table. The waiters and waitresses are friendly. The service is fast, and there is a take-out option if you’re in a hurry. The restaurant is also very clean.

Their samosas and mint chutney are delicious, and the masala tea is even better. The garlic naan, garlic-flavored roasted flat bread and barbecued chicken are among the best in Fremont. The tandoori fish (barbecued fish with spices) is freshly-cooked. The butter chicken has cream that tastes excellent with tandoori naan.

I ordered jalebi and gulab jamun for dessert, and they both tasted homemade. The mango lassi was refreshing and came in a large serving.

It costs approximately $20 to $25 for two hungry people to dine at Chutney. The portions are well-sized and the naan is larger compared to that of other Indian restaurants in Fremont.

Chutney is located on 3352 Mowry Avenue.

Verdict: B+
