Senior Taylor Harmon aspires to be a photojournalist someday.
Harmon first became interested in photography when she went on the Close-Up trip to Washington D.C. in eighth grade. With her Fujifilm camera, she took various pictures, which mainly consisted of the historical monuments in D.C. During freshman year, Harmon traveled to Australia and took pictures of the different bridges she encountered.
“I am interested in how things can look at different angles,” Harmon said.
Since she started taking photos, Harmon has set up a deviantART account (http://taytot.deviantart.com) that showcases nine pages of mostly macro photography, which she took on her Sony DSLR-A200K. The pictures spotlight mother nature’s gift of tree branches, flowers in shades of pink, purple, red, and blue, and a number of creative self-portraits.
Harmon’s adventure in photography also include a classroom, her junior year digital imaging class, where she learned about setting, light and how to make photos look better. Harmon’s active participation in Photography Club has also been a huge help because she has been able to meet other students who share her passion and interest in photography. The club does monthly photo shoots at various locations, and Harmon’s favorite has been the Stanford University photo shoot. She enjoyed taking pictures of the various buildings, especially the Stanford church exterior.
In the future, Harmon wants to learn more about different types of portraits with different emotions.
Through photography, Harmon has opened herself up and is more sociable. Her friends and family encourages her hobby, especially her aunt, who is also a photographer. Harmon hopes photography will help her gain a better understanding of people. She also hopes photography will help her gain a better understanding of people.
