I Want to Hear Another… Slow Song?
.
The long wait is over. Saosin’s first album in three years, In Search Of Solid Ground, is finally out. If you wanted more hit songs like “Voices,” “It’s So Simple” and “Sleepers,” you won’t find them here. However, if you liked “Finding Home” and “You’re Not Alone,” this is the album for you. For those who are not familiar with the previously stated songs, Saosin is becoming soft.
Compared to Saosin’s previous work, this album is filled with slower, more relaxing tracks. Although I would rather choose Jason Mraz or Drake, I could just as easily fall asleep to this CD. Of the 14 songs on the album, “I Keep My Secrets Safe,” “On My Own” and “Is This Real” are the only three songs that would make you want to get up and mosh.
Thankfully, the prominent ambient-esque guitar lines, post-hardcore bass lines and technical drumming are still all here. While Cove Reber’s vocals still give off the Saosin vibe, they are not as high-pitched as they used to be.
The one-hour long CD is nothing to be ashamed of, but In Search Of Solid Ground just didn’t satisfy the three-year hunger for a new album.
