Lynette Pierce, a Bay Area native, won author of the month on Booklockerbooks.com. Her book, Crystal of My Heart, won the Reader’s choice award as well as the Editor’s choice award. This story continued in, Guardian of My Heart and Pieces of My Heart, which follow Crystal of My Heart.

“It is very exciting; I’m honored that Cara selected me as the January author of the month,” Pierce said.

She is not only an author, but she raises Friesian horses and volunteers at the Humane Society as well. She felt sorry for the neglected animals and decided to be involved in “Meals on Wheels for Companion Animals,” a program that is designed for people to donate cans of food for helpless animals. She also works in a glass shop in the Fresno Area as an account receivable, which is a person who makes a sale and the money will be later collected, and inventory clerk.

Pierce went to Fresno State University and earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. When she was 18, she had the idea for Crystal of My Heart. Pierce wrote the story during her lunch hour and a co-worker asked her if she was going to publish the story. This gave her the idea which led her to publish her first story on iUniverse.

After winning the awards for Reader and Editor’s choice, she became inspired and continued her series. Her series continue with Guardian of My Heart and Pieces of My Heart which were printed by Infinity Publishing. She is currently writing her fourth book titled, Reflection of My Heart.

“First piece of advice I would give is to write about something that appeals to you. It is always easier to write something you know or love, or that is dear to you heart,” Pierce said.“Second piece of advice is not to become discouraged because it takes a long time and a lot of effort to write a novel. A lot of people would start writing and discover how much work it is and quit. It is a lot of work, but it is very rewarding. Perseverance is the key.”
