The Hatchet Online is produced by the fifth period Journalism class with contributions from the newspaper staff (sixth period Journalism) at Washington High School in Fremont, California.

The Hatchet is a forum for student expression and discussion of ideas uncensored by school officials. The Hatchet staff seeks to ethically produce an accurate record of the news, sports, issues and people of the Washington High School community.

Publication of the school newspaper began in 1916, when students decided it “could be used to bring untruth and deceit to an end.”
